William and Laura Penman were married about 1873 probably in Pennsylvania.
The date and location are unknown at this time. William and Laura
were very hard working and they owned land in Kansas and Montana. They
had 9 children and 8 survived to adulthood. A baby boy named William died
quite young. It is not known where he came in the order of children
at this time. William Penman worked at different coal mines and Laura
managed the family and the household. After William's death, Laura
homesteaded near Cokedale, Park County, Montana and lived there until after
her second marriage. She lived near Chestnut, Gallatin County, Montana
and ran a boarding house for a while. This is around 1914 for one of her
granddaughters was born there. During her later years, she lived
in Bozeman, Gallatin County, Montana. William is buried in
Livingston and Laura in Bozeman.
