11.  ANASTASIA BACH [Joseph, Simon] was born 21 Mar. 1878 near Mendota in LaSalle County, Illinois.  She was the daughter of Joseph Bach and Mary Jacobs.   After the death of her father, Anastasia would stay home and take care of the younger children while her mother acted a midwife and nurse to new mothers.  On 28 Nov., 1911, Anastasia Bach married Jacob Milleman  born 10 May ,1876,of Sublet, Illinois.  Her sister Anna Bach and her cousin Frank Reiter were her attendants.   The Millemans lived in Fostoria, Illinois and then moved to Spencer in Clay County, Iowa.   Jacob Milleman  was born in Germany and was naturalized as a citizen in 1900.  He died in January, 1963.  Anastasia’s death date is unknown at this time.

12. JOSEPHINE BACH [ Joseph, Simon]  was born 19 Oct. 1880 and she  died 8 June 1890.  She is buried in the Bach family plot in Holy Cross Cemetery in Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois.

13. ANNA LUCY BACH [Joseph, Simon] was born 7 July 1881 near Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois.  She was the daughter of Joseph Bach and Mary Jacobs.  She died 8 June 1904 at her mother’s residence in Mendota of heart trouble and pneumonia.  Her occupation was seamstress. Anna Lucy’s funeral was at the German Catholic Church in Mendota.  She is buried in the Bach family plot in Holy Cross Cemetery in Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois.  She was not married and had no issue.

14.  JULIA BACH [Joseph, Simon] was born 17 Mar. 1883 near Mendota, Illinois.   She was the daughter of Joseph Bach and Mary Jacobs.   Julia Bach was not married and had no children.  She lived in Mendota and took care of her mother.  She died 8 Feb. 1945 and she is buried in the Bach family plot in Holy Cross Cemetery in Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois.

15. JOHNNY BACH  [Joseph, Simon] was born 12 Aug 1886 near Mendota, Illinois.  He was the son of Joseph Bach and Mary Jacobs. He died 3 Dec. 1894 and  is buried in the Bach family plot in Holy Cross Cemetery in Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois.

16. JENNY[TENNIE] BACH [Joseph, Simon] She was born 16 June 1888  and  died 26 Dec. 1894.  She was the daughter of Joseph Bach and Mary Jacobs.  She is buried in the Bach family plot in Holy Cross Cemetery in Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois.

17. NICHOLAS CHARLES BACH [Joseph, Simon] He was born 31 July 1889 near  Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois about a month after the death of his father, Joseph Bach.  His mother was Mary Jacobs.  Nicholas  was working as a carpenter in 1911 and was married and had three children by 1920.  He probably married about 1915.  His wife was Gertrude M. Bach, maiden name unknown.   Nicholas  died 9 Aug. 1967.

18. ANNA REITER [Maria, Simon] was born  in 1873 in Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois.  She was the daughter of Maria Bach and Nicholas Reiter.  Anna may have been the Anna Reiter attending a Catholic School in Quincy, Illinois in 1900.  Her Grandmother, Anastasia Bach, was in Quincy, Illinois in the St. Vincent’s Home.  Anna Reiter married Conrad Meyer.

19. FRANK REITER [Maria, Simon] was born in  Oct. 1877 in Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois and was the son of Maria Bach and Nicholas Reiter.  His occupation was that of a Harness maker.  He worked with his father, Nicholas Reiter.  He married and had at least one daughter, Eve Reiter Rodel.

 64. i. Eve Reiter married Rodel and lives in Mendota, Illinois.

20. KATHERINE REITER  [Maria, Simon] was born 25 May 1878 in Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois.  She was the daughter of Maria Bach and Nicholas Reiter. On 22 Feb. 1905, Katherine married Frank J. Schmidt Jr.   Her occupation was housewife.   She died 24 April 1911 of pneumonia and is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Mendota, Illinois.



21. JOHN FRANKLIN BACH [Johann, Simon] was born 21 Sept. 1881 in Mendota in LaSalle County, Illinois.  He was the son of Johann Heinrich Bach and Mary E. (Carrie)  McClure.   John was baptized in the Methodist Episcopal Church in La Salle County.  He moved to Washington Territory with his parents in October of 1883 and lived near Pine City, Whitman County, Washington.  John attended school in Spokane and lived with his mother’s sister, Florence McLean.  Carrie Bach suffered from tuberculosis  and John accompanied his mother during the winters to Texas and California where she tried to improve her health.  John worked on the farm with his father and also had a real estate business in Spokane.  After he gave up real-estate, he returned to farming.   On 16 Feb., 1916 he married Jean Clark Jackson in Kootanie County, Idaho.  Jean was from Scotland.   They had one son.  While tearing down a warehouse at Kenova, Washington, John Bach was struck with a timber in the head and he died 31 May 1841.  His wife Jean Bach died  26 Jan. 1944.  They are buried in the Bach family plot in Greenwood Cemetery in Spokane, Washington.
     64.  Don Heinrich Bach born  16 August, 1918  near Spokane, Washington . He died 18 Feb.1984 in Roseburg, Oregon.  He served in the Coast Guard and Merchant Marine.  He was married and divorced and had 3 children: Bruce, James and Donna.  They grew up in California.

22. HARRY CHARLES BACH  [Johann, Simon] was born 3 Sept. 1883, in Mendota, Illinois.  He was the son of Johann Heinrich Bach and Mary E. (Carrie)  McClure.  When he was six weeks old, his parents brought him on the train to Washington Territory.  He was the youngest baby to cross the Rocky Mountains on the newly completed northern branch of the N.P. Railroad.  He married Ruby Harwood in St. John, Washington, 1905 and she died in 1911.   His second marriage was to Gertrude Elva Penman the daughter of William Penman born in Oakley , Fifeshire, Scotland  and Laura Victoria Greene from Pennsylvania.  Gertrude  born 23 July, 1893 near Livingston, Montana,  was the youngest of 9 children.    Harry and Gertrude farmed and ranched on the Bach family homestead.  They bought the Hole-in-the-Ground Valley and were famous for their orchards and gardens.  Harry was an armature photographer and had a large studio which burned down in 1945 in a fire set by a train.  He lost all of his equipment and most of his negatives.  While Gertrude was ill, he crafted clocks from agate rock and driftwood and was well known for his artistic ability.  Gertrude died after a long illness on 10, Jan. 1956.  After her death,  Harry continued to farm and work on his hobby.  He retired from farming at age 83 and on  14 Feb. 1968 he died in Holy Family Hospital in Spokane, Washington.

     65.    i. Amber Ellen Bach  (marriage 1) born 29 Jan., 1905 at St. John, Washington, and died 18   April, 1992 in  Spokane, WA.  Amber was a registered nurse.   She married Mark Hannah and   they divorced.   They had 3 children, Harriet Hannah, Helen Ann Hannah and Mark Hannah.

     66. ii Florence Louise Bach (marriage 2) was born 12 August, 1914 in Chestnut, near    Bozeman, Montana.  She died 20 April, 1982 at the Bach family homestead.  Florence attended   Kinman Business  College and worked at Galena Air Base prior to her marriage to Charley Eddie   Ager on 13 Oct.1944.   Charley Ager was born 4 Feb. 1899 in Canyon City, Oregon and died 26   June, 1981.  He served in the Marines and Navy and farmed with Harry Bach.  The Agers were   divorced in 1962.  Florence kept house for Harry Bach until he died in 1968.  They had one   daughter, Louise Charlene Ager  born 6 Oct., 1946, who married second Gary Clark Belsby.  She   has no children.



23. Martha Barbara Bach [Jacob, Simon] was born 2 March 1884 and died 18 Aug 1884.

24.Franklin (Frank) Simmon Bach  [Jacob, Simon] was born 9 March 1885 in Peru, LaSalle County, Illinois.  He was the son of Jacob Bach and Mary Elizabeth Reitz.  He came to Kansas with his parents when he was an infant of six weeks old.  He married on 10 Jan., 1912  at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville, Kansas to Clara Barbara Ring who was born 17 May, 1888 in Marysville, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Peter Ring and Anna M. Rombeck.  They lived near Custer City, Oklahoma where he farmed.  From the results of a farm accident on November 21, 1946 , Frank was seriously injured and he died 7 Jun. 1947 and is buried in Anthon Cemetery northwest of Clinton, Oklahoma.

 67.  i.  Walter Peter Bach, [Frank, Jacob, Simon] born 20 Nov. 1912 in Custer City, Oklahoma.  He died 28   Feb., 1991  at Clinton, Oklahoma.  He is buried in the Anton Cemetery.

 68.  ii Elmer Francis Bach  [Frank, Jacob, Simon]was born 9 April, 1914 and died 5 June, 1914 at Clinton,     Oklahoma.

 69. iii Clarence Jacob Bach [Frank, Jacob, Simon] was born 4 April, 1915 in Custer City, Oklahoma, and died   14 Jan. 1975.  He married Virginia Taylor on  31 Jan., 1942.  Virginia was born on 6 Feb., 1920.

 70. iv Martha Ann Bach  [Frank, Jacob, Simon] was born 22 Feb. 1917 in Custer City, Okalhoma.  She married   Stuart Sigmond Crook on 3 December, 1943.  Martha Bach was a teacher and author of a book on  Correlated Teaching which her husband an retired farmer and care salesman published for her.

 71. v. Francis Aloy Bach [Frank, Jacob, Simon] was born 23 Nov. 1919 and died 20 Sept., 1924.  He is buried   in the Custer City Cemetery.

 72. vi. Harold Claude Bach [Frank, Jacob, Simon] was born 16 June, 1924 and died 24 May, 1941.  He is   buried at the Anton Cemetery.



25.Anastasia Bach  [Jacob, Simon] was born 28 July 1887 at Marysville, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Jacob Bach and Mary Elizabeth Reitz.   She married Robert Bingham Ford on 8 Feb., 1930 in Wichita, Kansas.   Robert Ford was born 4 June, 1887 in Marysville, Kansas.  He died 8  Feb., 1930 and is buried at St. Gregory’s Cemetery in Marysville.  Anastasia  died 17 Oct. 1972.  Anastasia had no children.

26. John Theodore Bach  [Jacob, Simon] was born 3 Mar. 1891 in Oketo, Marshall County, Kansas.   He was the son of Jacob Bach and Mary Elizabeth Reitz.  He married Caroline Mary Masek on 26 Dec., 1917.  She was born 23 Jan., 1879 and she died 2 Dec., 1965.  John lived in Odell, Nebraska.  He died 15 Oct. 1960, and is buried in Odell, Nebraska.

     73. i. Joseph Paul Bach was born 8 Jan. 1921.  He married Laurine Christine Sekal who  was born 22 June, 1920 in Hanover, Kansas.  John Paul died 1 Oct., 1986 at Beatrice, Nebraska.    He is buried at Odell, Nebraska Cemetery.

27. Edward Ralph Bach  [Jacob, Simon] was born 2 Oct. 1892 at Oketo, Kansas.  He was the son of Jacob Bach and Mary Elizabeth Reitz.  Edward Bach worked as a harness maker in his early career and as  carpenter .  He first married Helen A. Klein on 20 Feb. 1916 at Marysville, Kansas.  Helen was the daughter of John Klein and Abigail Keppes.  She died 11 Feb., 1924.  Edward married second, Lula Teresa Mentgen on 10 Nov., 1926.   Edward moved to Manhattan, Kansas in 1966 and resided there until died 30 Oct. 1968.

     74.  i. Ralph Bach Klein [Edward, Jacob, Simon ] (marriage 1) was born 15 Oct. 1923 at Marysville,   Kansas.  After the death of his mother while he was still an infant, he was adopted by his maternal   grandparents and has the surname Klein.   He married first Erma Jean Boettcher  on 4 June, 1948,  and second to Marcella O’Shea Meinhart on 7 Feb., 1983.  He resides in Manhattan, Kansas.

     75.  ii Velma Ann Bach [Edward, Jacob, Simon ] was born 30 Jan. 1928 in Oketo, Kansas.  She married Robert   Elden Osborne on 20  May,  1947 at Holton, Kansas.  They reside in Manhattan, Kansas.

     76. iii Dolores Jean Bach [Edward, Jacob, Simon ]  was born 26 Aug. 1929 at Oketo, Kansas.  She married   Donald Wesley Schwerdtfeger on 21 June., 1948.  They reside in Merced, California.

     77. iv Lawrence Leon Bach  [Edward, Jacob, Simon ] was born 22 Jan, 1935 at Oketo, Kansas.  He married Clara   Ellen Yohn on 3 Oct., 1959 at Greensberg, Kansas.  They reside at Blue Rapids, Kansas.
 78 v. Karen Elizabeth Bach was born 12 Nov., 1940 at Holton, Kansas.  She married   Gary Lee Ubben on 4 June, 1960 at Beattie, Kansas.

28. Anna Walburga (Annabel) Bach  [Jacob, Simon]  was born 14 Feb. 1897 at Oketo, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Jacob Bach and Mary Elizabeth Reitz.  On 17 July, 1918 at Marysville, Kansas she married Laurence Henry  von Arx.  He was the son of Lucas von Arx and Marie Eugenie Klein. Laurence was a farmer, salesman and carpenter.  He died 19 Oct., 1984 at Marysville, Kansas.  Annabel was a housewife and she died 6 April, 1977.   She is buried at Marysville, Kansas.

     79. i. Alice Marie vonArx[Annabel,,Jacob, Simon] was born 16 Nov. 1919 at Home, Kansas.  She married Albert   Ketter on 30 Oct., 1943 at Thomasville, Georgia.  They reside at Home, Kansas.

     80. ii. Elmer Lucas von Arx [Annabel,,Jacob, Simon] was born 26 June, 1925 at Marysville, Kansas.  He married   Betty Schultz on 20 Dec., 1956.  They divorced and had no children.  Elmer died 1 May, 1987.    He is buried in Marysville, Kansas.

29. George Mathias Bach  [Jacob, Simon] was born 4 July 1899 at Oketo, Kansas.  He was the son of Jacob Bach and Mary Elizabeth Reitz.   On 16 Nov., 1922 he married Anita M. Koppes the daughter of Hubert Koppes and Kate Mentgen. .Anita was born 4 Dec. 1900 at Herkimer, Kansas.  He died 8 May 1956 and is buried at St. Gregory’s Cemetery in Marysville, Kansas.

     81. i. Leo Harold Bach [George, Jacob, Simon]was born 11 Nov. 1928 at Oketo, Kansas.  He  was killed 3 April,   1944 at Lincoln, Nebraska.  He is buried at St. Gregory’s Cemetery in Marysville, Kansas.  He was   single.

     82. ii. Eugene George Bach  [George, Jacob, Simon]was born 13 July, 1925 at Oketo, Kansas.  He married   Donna Mae Fauver on 24 Sept., 1947 at Marysville, Kansas.

     83. iii Teresa Carol Bach  [George, Jacob, Simon]was born 14 June, 1929 at Oketo, Kansas.  She married   Anthony Patrick Lehechka on 4 Sept., 1947 at Marysville, Kansas.

 84. iv JoAnn Anita Bach  [George, Jacob, Simon] was born 9 June, 1930 at Oketo, Kansas.  She married Willis R.  Melstrom on 13 Sept., 1952 at Marysville, Kansas.


30.  Ida B. Achatz [Anna, Simon] was born Nov., 1878  in Kansas. She was the daughter of Anna Bach and William Achatz.  Ida died 22 Sept.1948. On  17 Oct. 1898,  she married  Clarence Johnson  who died 19 Nov. 1943.   They were residents of Ford County, Kansas at the time of their death.

31. Caroline A Achatz [Anna, Simon] was born 10 Oct., 1881 in Barton County, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Anna Bach and William Achatz. and died 15 April 1967.   She was probably the wife of John Specker.  She resided in Alamosa, Colorado.

32. Frederick W. Achatz [Anna, Simon]was born 7 Nov., 1883  in Barton County, Kansas.  He was the son  of Anna Bach and William Achatz. He died 1941.

33. John A. Achatz [Anna, Simon] was born 21 Sept. 1885 in Barton County, Kansas.  He died May ,1968.  He resided in Alamosa,  Colorado.

34. Frank Achatz  [Anna, Simon] was born 1888 in Barton County, Kansas.   He was the son  of Anna Bach and William Achatz. He died 1891.

35. Emma M. Achatz [Anna, Simon] was born 1 Feb. 1891  in Barton County, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Anna Bach and William Achatz. died 17 Feb., 1974.  She married Andrew Beiriger who was born 19 Feb. 1884.  They resided in Denver, Adams County, Colorado.

36. Paul A. Achatz [Anna, Simon] was born 29 Jan. 1893 in Barton County, Kansas.   He was the son  of Anna Bach and William Achatz.  He died Feb. 1969 and resided in Portland, Oregon.

37. David Achatz [Anna, Simon] was born 28 Dec. 1895 in Great Bend, Barton County, Kansas.  He was the son  of Anna Bach and William Achatz.  He died 15   Nov. 1979.  He resided in Alamosa, Colorado.

38. Lenore Achatz [Anna, Simon] was born 7 Aug. 1898 in Barton County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Anna Bach and William Achatz.  She died 1958.   She worked as a nurse.

39. George Achatz [Anna, Simon] was born 29 June, 1900;  He was the son  of Anna Bach and William Achatz. He died Aug. 1966.  He resided at Chino, San Bernadino, CA.

40. ALBERT F. ACHATZ [Anna, Simon] was born 3 May, 1904.    He was the son  of Anna Bach and William Achatz.  He died 3 Jan, 1985.  He resided in Alamosa, Colorado.

41. William N. Achatz [Anna, Simon] was born 24 Aug., 1905;  He was the son  of Anna Bach and William Achatz. He died 22 Sept., 1985.  He resided in Portland, Oregon.  He had only one child, a son Bill Achatz.  Bill has a son, Dan Achatz who lives in Seattle, Washington.



42.Elizabeth Anna Bach [Theodore, Simon] was born 17 Sept, 1889 in Marysville, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Theodore Bach and Mary Magratha Fossenberger. She married Joseph William Burbach on 25 Nov. 1908 in Greely, Colorado.  Lizzy diedin July of 1965 in Greely, Colorado.  She had the following children:

43. Simon Charles Bach  [Theodore, Simon] was born 11 Feb., 1891 in Oketo, Kansas.  He was the son of  Theodore Bach and Mary Magratha Fossenberger.  He married Gertrude Blees.  He died 22 Aug. 1926 in Orleans, Nebraska.  He had the following children:

45.Christina Marie Bach  [Theodore, Simon] was born 2 Mar. 1893; She was the daughter of Theodore Bach and Mary Magratha Fossenberger  On 13 Nov. 1913, she married Archie Theodore Palmer.  .She died 17 Sept, 1962 in Kremmling, Colorado.  They had the following children.

46. Herman Jacob Bach  [Theodore, Simon] was born 5 Nov. 1895 in Marysville, Kansas. He was the son of  Theodore Bach and Mary Magratha Fossenberger.  He married Elsie Esther Perry 28 June, 1922 in Alma, Nebraska.  He died died 5 Jan.,1979, in Franklin, Nebraska.  He had one child:
 Herman Jacob Bach, Jr.

47. William John Bach  [Theodore, Simon] was born 2 Nov. 1897 in Oketo, Kansas.   He was the son of  Theodore Bach and Mary Magratha Fossenberger.  He married Besse Riggens.  Bill died 15 Oct. 1977 in Red Cloud, Nebraska.

48. Johanna Bach  [Theodore, Simon] was born Jan, 1900 and died 1903.  She was the daughter of Theodore Bach and Mary Magratha Fossenberger.

49. Mary Agatha Bach  [Theodore, Simon] was born 26 May 1902 in Oketo, Kansas. She was the daughter of Theodore Bach and Mary Magratha Fossenberger.  She married first Robert Thomas Brew  on 12 Feb. 1919 at Smith Center, Kansas.  She  married second Elbert Joseph Mahler (Al) on 1 Jan., 1940.  Mary died 2 Nov. 1992 at Franklin, Nebraska.  She had the following children:

50. Robert Jacob Bach  [Theodore, Simon] was born 2 May 1904 in Oketo, Kansas. He was the son of  Theodore Bach and Mary Magratha Fossenberger   On 9 Nov., 1926 he married Martha Gertrude Jansen.  He  died 22 Aug. 1982 in Franklin, Nebraska.  He had the following children:

51. John (G. or H.) Bach  [Theodore, Simon] was born 25 Mar. 1907 in Stamford, Nebraska.  He was the son of  Theodore Bach and Mary Magratha Fossenberger died  18 Feb., 1908.

52. Joseph Henry Bach [Theodore, Simon] was born 23 July 1909 in Stamford, Nebraska.  He was the son of  Theodore Bach and Mary Magratha Fossenberger

53. Eva Josephine  Bach  [Theodore, Simon] was born 13 June 1911 in Stamford, Nebraska.  She is the daughter of Theodore Bach and Mary Magratha Fossenberger.  On 2 Jan., 1936 she married Thomas James McNiff in Lincoln, Nebraska.  They farmed in Franklin, Nebraska.  She was a survivor of the Republican River Flood of 1935 that devastated Franklin,  Nebraska.  Eva had the following children:

54. Phoebe Bach [Bernhard, Simon]  was born in May 1896  in probably Oketo, Kansas. She was the daughter of Bernard H. Bach and Mary White.  Mary was the daughter of James H. White b. 7 July, 1836 in Upper Canada near Niagra Falls.  He died 12 April, 1929 at Oketo, KS.  James White married Elmira House on May 22, 2859 at Elwood, KS.  They had four daughters, Henrietta White Burk, Adaline White Mock, Emma  White Guise  and Mary White Bach Grubb.  Phoebe lived with her grandfather White near Oketo  after her parents divorced.  She had one brown eye and one blue eye which made her looks rather impressive. She married a Mr. Harvey N. Stanley and was  known to be living  in Overland Park, Kansas.  In April of 1929, Phoebe was listed in her  maternal grandfather’s, James H. White’s, obituary as living in Meriam, Kansas.  Later family members have her listed as living in Marceline, Missouri.  Her mother was named as Mary Grubb in James White’s obituary.  From an old family photo it is thought that Phoebe had 4 or 5 children.  Known children were:

 Ava Stanley.
