The relationship to the Neumeir family is not known. They lived near the Bach family in Milwaukee and also in Mendota and the parents were from Baden.
2. JOSEPH BACH [Simon] was born 9 June 1853 in Buffalo, Erie County, New York. He lived with his parents in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved with them to Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois. On 17 Jan. 1877 he married Mary A. Jacobs [Jakobs] the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Jakobs. She was born 24 Feb., 1854 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1870 Joseph was living near Mendota apprenticed to a shoemaker. By 1880 he was married and living on a farm near Mendota. Joseph Bach suffering from tuberculosis made his will on 5 June 1889 leaving all of his property to his wife Mary A. Bach and he died on 1 July 1889 at the age of 36 years. Mary Bach moved into the town of Mendota and worked as a midwife and helping in homes with new babies to support herself and her family. Mary A. Bach died 10 June, 1943 and is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Mendota next to her husband Joseph Bach. They were members of the Holy Cross Catholic Church.

3. MARIA BACH [Simon] was born in 1854 in Ohio. She lived with her parents in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois where she married Nicholas W. REITER on 22 Nov. 1872. Nicholas REITER was born in Dec. 1846 [some information gives 1856] in Germany and living with parents Nicholas and Susanna Reiter in 1870. Nicholas Reiter was a harness maker by profession. Nicholas and Maria were married in the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mendota, Illinois. They resided in Mendota and Maria died 12 August 1880 leaving three small children. Nicholas REITER married K. [Gertrude] MELZER in October, 1881. They had 7 children. The Reiter family were members of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mendota, Illinois.

4. JOHANN HEINRICH BACH [Simon] was born 19 Feb., 1856 in West
Granville, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He grew up speaking German in the
home and attended a German speaking Catholic school which was farther from
home than the local public school. He moved with his parents to Mendota,
Illinois where he was a windmill maker by profession. On 26, May,
1880 in Ottawa at the Methodist Episcopal Parsonage John BACH married
Mary E. [Carrie] McClure who was the daughter of Dr. Adonijah Stansbury
McClure and Melinda Coleman. Mary was born in Broome County, NY,
probably in McClure Settlement, on 8 Oct. 18??[46] and grew up in
Diamondville, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. She worked as a housekeeper
for the Barber family who were close neighbors to Joseph Bach. In
1883, John Bach came to Washington Territory with some of the Barber
family and selected a homestead site. He returned to Mendota and
in October of 1883 moved his family to Pine City, Whitman County, in Washington.
Carrie Bach suffered from consumption and died 4 Jan. 1905 in San Diego,
California where she went for her health in the winters. John Bach
continued to improve farm and increase his property near his homestead.
He never remarried. He died 13 Oct. 1935 at his home near Pine City.
He is buried next to his wife in Greenwood Cemetery, Spokane, Washington.
He and his family attended local protestant churches and his funeral was
held in the protestant church in Pine City.

5. JACOB SIMON BACH [Simon] was born 19 Nov. 1857 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He lived with his parents in Milwaukee and moved with them to Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois. In Peru, La Salle County, Illinois on 22 August, 1882 he married Mary Elizabeth REITZ who was the daughter of Frank Reitz and Walburgis SOKLMIER. Mary Reitz was born 14 June, 1859 in Peru, Illinois. In 1885 Jacob Bach moved to Oketo, Marshall County, Kansas and farmed near his parents. Jacob Bach was an innovative and industrious farmer and built a large stately home on the Bach farm near Oketo. Mary Bach died 12 December, 1928. They lived at Marysville, Kansas during their later years. Jacob Bach died 25 December, 1934 in Marysville, Kansas. Both are buried at St. Gregory’s Cemetery in Marysville. They were members of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church.

Anna Bach and William Achatz
6. ANNA MARY BACH [Simon] was born 13 Feb. 1861 in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. On March 10, 1861, Anna Maria Bach was baptised in St.
Mary's Church which was a German Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Her
god parents were Anna Maria Kleinberg and James Kleinberg. She moved with
her parents to Mendota, Illinois. Simon Bach gave permission for
her to marry while only seventeen years old. On the 8 th. of Jan,
1878, she married William Achatz at the Holy Cross Church in Mendota, Illinois.
William Achatz was born in December of 1850 in Eitorf near to Cologne,Prussia.
He was the son of Fred William Achatz and Anna Maria Bruder. By 1879,
William and Anna Achatz had moved to Ellinwood Lakin Township in
Barton County, Kansas. William was farming. They lived in Kansas
until about 1906 when they moved to Stanley in Costillo County, Colorado.
In 1920 they were living in Stanley Precinct in Alamosa County, Colorado.
William was the owner of a farm. William Achatz died in 1925 and
Anna Achatz died in 1946 in Portland Oregon. Her family brought
her to Portland to take care of her in her last years. Her daughter,
Laura, who was a nurse helped care for her for two years. Buriel place
is unknown but probably near Alamosa, Colorado.

7. THEODORE BACH [Simon] was born 19 January, 1863 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Theodore was baptised on March 11, 1863 at the St. Mary's German Catholic Church in Milwaukee. His god parents were Theodore Geradi and Ludovica Bolzer. He moved with his parents to Mendota, Illinois, and then to Oketo, Kansas in 1885. On 22 November, 1888 Theodore Bach married Mary Margretta Fossenberger. Mary Fossenberger was born 2 Feb., 1870 in Otoe, Nebraska, the daughter of Herman Fossenberger and Elizabeth Margar Oltmanns. In 1904 Theodore moved to Stamford, Nebraska and in 1913 to Dillon, Colorado. In 1916 they returned to Franklin, Nebraska where they settled. Theodore leased farm land from Simon and Anastasia Bach. The lease expired March 1, 1894. Originally Bernard Bach was the administrator but soon Theodore was appointed administrator of the Simon Bach estate but resigned in 1904 when he moved to Nebraska. Theodore and Mary Bach and their youngest daughter Eva Bach McNiff were survivors of the Republican River Flood of June 1, 1935. Theodore Bach died 3 Jan., 1937 and Mary Bach died 6 Sept., 1944. They are buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin, Nebraska.

8. PETER BACH [Simon] was born 28 May, 1865 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was baptised on June 8, 1865 at St. Mary's German Catholic Church in Milwaukee. His god parents were Peter Jacobs and Elizabeth Jacobs. I believe his god parents to be the parents of Joseph Bach's wife, Mary. Peter is listed in the 1870 census of Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois. There is no mention of him in 1880. Anastasia Bach stated that she had 9 children and only 5 were living in 1900.
9. BERNHARD H.BACH [Simon] was born in 1867 in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. He lived with his parents in Mendota, Illinois, and moved
to Oketo, Kansas, in 1885. On 16 Sept., 1895 he married Mary E. White
the daughter of James and Elmira White. Ben Bach was the original
administrator of the Simon Bach estate but it was soon turned over to Theodore.
Ben was in some financial difficulties and his share of the estate went
to a creditor. In 1900, Mary Bach was living with her father in Nebraska
with their small daughter. By 1904 Mary Bach had divorced Ben Bach.
He had left the state and his address was unknown. Ben Bach’s
death date is not know.

10. MATHIAS BACH [Simon] was born in 1869 in Mendota, LaSalle
County, Illinois.
Little is known about Mathias. Family legend has it that he drove
off in a wagon one day and never returned. He died prior to
the death of his parents at about the age of 19 years on 5
October of 1889. He died unmarried, intestate with no issue.
He is buried in old St. Mary’s Cemetery, Blue Springs, Nebraska.
